- Computers-Intro
Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of computer software.
Without previous experience, students will learn through hands-on exercises,
at individual computer stations, basic computer skills for organizing
information and enhancing visual communication. At completion of course,
students will have a foundation of computer knowledge regarding the operation
of basic computer programs such as Word, Excell, Access, PowerPoint, Windows,

Students will develop study skills, personal time management, test taking skills, practice group leadership etc. through discussions and case studies. - Textile Science
The student is provided with a general study of textile materials with
emphasis on factors which affect their handling, appearance and performance.
Students will learn and appreciate the properties of natural, manmade,
and synthetic fibers from yarn to fabric to completed fashion merchandise. << course

Students will explore the various social, economic, political and technological factors that affect the development of dress, tracing the influences of early dress through to modern times. - Visual Merchandising
Students learn and apply the principles of colour and design to fashion
and visual merchandising. A workshop environment allows for experimentation
in two and three dimensional design in window displays, fashion elements,
merchandising and store planning, techniques, theories, props and tools
of the trade in an atmosphere of teamwork. <<

- Fashion Illustration
Students will develop their skills in illustration. This course introduces
the student to fashion sketching and proportions of the human form. Other
areas used include shading, marker renderings, textures, and perspective
drawings within the fashion industry.

- Fashion Industry Analysis
An introduction to the multiple facets of the fashion
industrywhich include discussions on; terminologies, influences, cycles and social-economic environments. Students gain an overview of industry levels and categories as well as retail operations focusing on women's, men's, children's, apparel, accesories, and home fashions in domestic and global markets.
