| The successful completion of this program will enable the graduate to: Coordinate styles, colours, clothing requirements for the consumer in various lifestyles and specific areas. Recognize the numerous fashion industries and how they interact. Communicate with colleagues, customers, and related industries’ personnel with appropriate fashion trade terminology and an emphasis on customer service. Display and demonstrate fashion products in creative design arrangements and sales-stimulating techniques. Interpret, understand, appreciate and empathize with customer demand and motivation in order to anticipate necessary shifts in sales promotion. Research and develop creative strategy in merchandising, marketing techniques, advertising and promotion, creative thinking, writing, and media design. Utilize drawing skills as a vehicle for visual communication in both 2D and 3D form. Understand the organizational functions and responsibilities of the apparel industry up to the supervisory level. Understand the importance of textile technology and how it relates to the raw materials used in the manufacture of fashion products. Read and execute store layouts, fixture designs, and plan-o-grams, and use these to render perspectives. Apply the principles of marketing to manufacturing and retailing of fashion apparel. Apply mathematical and accounting procedures to budgeting and future financial planning of retail businesses. Become computer literate through detailed computer applications specific to retail and promotional segments of the fashion industry. Organize and produce a professional fashion show through advertising, prop construction and stage presentation. Be aware of basic legal principles which will affect commercial law in the fashion industry. Recognize the various social elements, silhouettes, and terminologies associated with the evolution of fashion.
